Gallery on the Stairs

Starting now, I will be exhibiting one story at a time at the Gallery on the Stairs at the Bait al Baranda, Muscat. I’ll go slow through the summer, but will replace the work regularly from August onwards. Richard Woodhead from the al Madina Art Gallery made me a special frame that not only matches the dark old wood at the Baranda, but can also be taken down and flipped open to receive the next exhibit. Each will show just one photograph, and will have a paragraph of story in both English and Arabic, as well as a note on how I took the shot. Viewers are encouraged to get in touch with me with stories of their own.

The idea for a single, permanent frame where the exhibit changes regularly, as opposed to a grander traditional exhibition where the pieces are kept up for a limited period, and that is difficult and expensive to organise, was something I have worked to develop with Malik al Hinai, the director of the Baranda, who is reinventing the way we look at art in Muscat.

I invite you to come visit the Gallery on the Stairs.
